Radio NATO
«Radio NATO» bygger på historien om en NATO-militærbase som lå ved foten av Kolsås, rett utenfor Oslo.
Militærbasen hadde en egen nærradio som blant annet sendte American top 40, ledet av Casey Kasem. Han avsluttet alltid med «Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars». Samtidig som Radio NATO fylte lufta med amerikansk popkultur, levde frykten for et mulig bombeangrep mot militærbasen i bakgrunnen. Låtskriver Richard Nygård vokste selv opp i Bærum.
Med melodiske vokalharmonier og elektriske gitar i et 70-talls lydbilde henter Colliding Suns fram følelsen av klassisk FM-radio. Den utforsker temaer som nostalgi, propaganda og fjerne signaler fra en annen tid.

«Radio NATO» is a single by Colliding Suns. The song is inspired by the story of a NATO military base located at the foot of Mount Kolsås, just outside Oslo.
The military base operated its own local radio station, broadcasting programs such as American Top 40 hosted by Casey Kasem, who always signed off with the words: «Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars». While Radio NATO filled the airwaves with American pop culture, the fear of a possible bombing attack on the military base lingered in the background.
With melodic vocal harmonies and electric guitars wrapped in a 1970s-inspired soundscape, the song evokes the feeling of classic FM radio while exploring themes of nostalgia, propaganda, and distant signals from another era.
